I have this pci-e controller in a 4x pci-e slot and with my Seagate Cheetah 15K 450GB SAS drive, my throughput (hdparm -t) is 153 MB/s. The only thing that is going to beat that throughput is a SSD and it is not going to have 450GB of storage space. Flashing the BIOS on this card is relatively easy.
